What are the differences between insulated bearings and ordinary bearings?
1. The main difference between insulated bearings and ordinary bearings is the insulation performance. Insulated bearings use a special spraying process to spray a layer of high-quality coating on the outer surface of the bearing. This coating not only has strong bonding with the substrate, but also has good insulation performance. This coating can avoid the electro-corrosion of the bearing by the induced current, prevent the current from damaging the grease, rolling elements, and raceways, thereby increasing the service life of the bearing. The coating thickness of the insulated bearing is usually 100μm and can withstand a voltage of up to 1000 V DC. This special spraying process forms a coating with uniform thickness and strong adhesion. After further treatment, the coating can be unaffected by moisture and humidity, ensuring the stable performance of the bearing in various environments. 2. From the appearance, the inner or outer ring of the insulated bearing is different from that of the ordinary bearing because the surface is coated with an insulating coating. Generally, the inner or outer ring is black, white or gray. 3. The application scenario of insulated bearings is mainly in motors that need to avoid electrical corrosion damage. Compared with other insulation methods, insulated bearings are more cost-effective and more reliable. In addition, the dimensions and basic technical features of insulated bearings are the same as those of non-insulated bearings, so they are 100% interchangeable and suitable for motors, generators, and especially variable frequency motor applications.
